Out and About for Visibility

Featuring the Out collection from the brand Quiet Deviants! Purple has never been worn 'Out and About' quite like this before. Check out what this brand is doing for the LGBTQ community.

"Quiet Deviants is founded around the idea of showing pride through subtle designs. This apparel is meant to be a celebration of yourself and the LGBTQ community without feeling like a target in public or at home."

- Perry Wallinger, CEO and founder of Quiet Deviants

The Back Story

I was scrolling through my phone, looking at different clothing brands (duh), and I came across this beautifully bright purple shirt, so I clicked the photo to see what was up. My dudes, I am a fashion nerd, so I thought I would go through the website and see what this brand was all about. When I buy from a clothing brand, I like to see what their company philosophy is and to see if that brand is something I want to represent. I do have to say, I was incredibly inspired by Quiet Deviants' philosophy and their reach for visibility of the LGBTQ community.

Not So Quietly Proud

If anything, I am a sucker for a good story. My featured pieces in my every day outfits usually have (what I think to be) a good story to tell. I am not going to lie, if I am asked where I got a piece, I have this habit of having to tell the whole story from where I got it to when I first saw it- but you already know this from my other blog posts- My favorite hat was my dad's, the blue tracksuit came from a contest I won, and this purple shirt comes from Quiet Deviants, a brand that encourages we live for our authentic selves and to appreciate our own individuality.

The Out collection is by far my favorite collection in 2019 because it brings visibility to the LGBTQ community. Those of us who can be 'out' and feel safe to be 'out' have a responsibility to recognize that this is not the case for everyone. Some of us have faced discrimination and hatred for the pronouns we use or for our sexuality. Visibility is such an important concept for me, personally, because it recognizes that not everyone can safely live for their authentic self.

One purple shirt at a time, Quiet Deviants is bringing us together, whether we identify to be a part of the LGBTQ community or a loving Ally.
